LEGAL

Terms of Service

Last updated September 2026

Acceptance

By downloading or using txt2mp3, or by using this website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the app or the site.

Your license to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use txt2mp3 on the Macs you own or control, for personal or business use, subject to these terms. You may not resell or redistribute the app, share or circumvent license keys, remove or alter its notices, or reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble it, except to the limited extent applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction. All intellectual property in txt2mp3 remains ours.

The free trial

txt2mp3 is free to download and free to use as a trial. Every voice and every feature works exactly as it does in the paid app; the trial limits only how much text the app will read at a time. The app shows you that limit as you type, and we may change it for future downloads.

The trial does not expire and there is nothing to cancel. Entering a license key removes the limit on that Mac; one key activates up to five Macs. A key is personal to you: sharing, publishing, or reselling it ends the license.

Price and payment

txt2mp3 is sold as a one-time purchase, not a subscription: one payment covers unlimited generation and every update within version 1. The price rises as copies sell, and the price in force is the one shown on this site at the moment you buy — a license you have already bought is never repriced.

Purchases are handled by a third-party payment provider acting as the merchant of record, which runs checkout, payment, invoicing, and any applicable tax, so your purchase is also subject to that provider's terms. Where you buy as a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights — including any right of withdrawal — remain unaffected.

What you make with it

The speech you generate is yours. We claim no ownership of it, no license to it, and we never receive a copy — generation happens entirely on your Mac. You are free to use the audio commercially.

Cloning a voice: consent is your responsibility

txt2mp3 can reproduce a voice from a short recording. That power carries an obligation we cannot check for you, so you agree that you will only clone a voice when you have the right to do so. Specifically, you agree not to use txt2mp3:

  • to clone the voice of a real person without their informed, documented consent — other than your own;
  • to impersonate anyone, or to create audio that a listener could reasonably mistake for a genuine recording of a real person, without disclosing that it is synthetic;
  • for fraud, harassment, defamation, sexual content involving a real person's voice, or any material that misleads about its origin;
  • in breach of the personality, publicity, data-protection, or copyright rights that attach to a person's voice and to the recordings you feed it.

You are solely responsible for the recordings you supply and the audio you produce. Because the app runs entirely on your machine, we have no ability to monitor, review, or intervene in what you generate — which is exactly why this clause is on you.

Acceptable use

Beyond the above, you agree not to use txt2mp3 unlawfully, to infringe anyone's rights, or in a way that could damage, disable, or impair the app or the systems it runs on. You are responsible for the files you handle with it and for keeping your own backups.

Third-party components

On first run the app downloads open-source models and a Python runtime from their publishers, each under its own license — the speech model under Apache-2.0, the captioning model under MIT, and the Python runtime under the PSF license plus the licenses of the packages it bundles. The app shows you what it is fetching before it starts. Your use of those components is subject to their licenses, and their authors give no warranty for them either.

Updates and availability

The app may check for and install updates so you receive fixes and improvements; updates are governed by these same terms. We may change, suspend, or discontinue the app, this website, or any part of either. Where you hold a paid license we will not do so unreasonably, and your mandatory statutory rights remain unaffected.

No warranty

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Synthetic speech is generated by a statistical model: it can mispronounce, misread, or produce unexpected output, and you are responsible for checking it before you use it. If you have bought a license as a consumer, your mandatory statutory warranty rights remain unaffected.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of txt2mp3. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health, or under mandatory product-liability or consumer-protection law. For slight negligence we are liable only for breach of an essential contractual obligation, and then only for the foreseeable, typical damage.

Apple and third parties

txt2mp3 runs on macOS. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Apple, and your use of macOS remains subject to Apple's own terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Germany, excluding its conflict-of-laws rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app or the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
